The word is now out about our new collaborative barrel aged beer project "Clan Brewing Company" with our good friends The Craft Beer Clan of Scotland.
Founding brother Scott Williams joined up with international whisky guru Charles PB MacLean, both playing important roles in the development of the beers. Scott creating recipes to match the profiles of the casks hand-selected by "Master of the Quaich" MacLean.
The four beers were aged for up to nine months in oak, the base beer recipes especially formulated to compliment the provenance of whisky previously inhabiting the casks. The beer style & whisky regions pairings resulting in the following brews:
- Spruce Ale aged in Islay Casks.
- Red Rye Ale aged in Speyside Casks.
- Golden Ale aged in Highland Casks.
- Imperial Stout aged in Lowland Cask.
With 80% of the original batches set for international markets (mainly the Far East) and domestically to The Whisky Shop, stock is very limited, but we have managed to secure some for our online shop.
Do not threat if you miss them though as batches 2 & 3 are in cask & will be ready in the not to distant future.
You can read further details on the project on the Scotland Food & Drink website.
